Deciduous Azalea Varieties (Species) Native to the United States

The following table describes the different native azalea varieties found in the United States. For those so inclined, there are Foreign Deciduous Azalea Varieties that will cross with these American species.

This chart is very helpful for those looking to enjoy azaleas for more months during the year. While most deciduous azalea varieties bloom around April-June, several azalea plant varieties bloom later, most notably R. cumberlandense which blooms into July and R. prunifolium and R. serrulatum which can bloom into August and September, respectively.
